On 29 November 2024, Women’s Healing Sanctuary participated in important events to stand in solidarity with women against domestic violence, joining the DV Awareness Day in Raymond Terrace and the March Against Violence in Maitland. At these events, we presented information about our sanctuary, connected with local agencies, and raised awareness about how we support women in distress to rest their nervous systems and begin their healing journeys.
Our involvement contributed to the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which runs from 25 November to 10 December. These events allowed us to strengthen community ties and share our mission of providing a safe space for women in need.
Standing Together Against Domestic Violence
Our participation in these events aligns with our core mission to create a nurturing environment where women can find solace, support, and the strength to heal. The DV Awareness Day and March Against Violence provided powerful platforms to share this message with our community.
Connecting with Local Agencies
One of the most valuable aspects of these events was the opportunity to connect with local agencies. By fostering these relationships, we can create a stronger support network for women in need. Together, we can provide more comprehensive care and resources to those experiencing domestic violence.
Sharing Our Approach to Healing
During the events, we shared insights into our unique approach at Women’s Healing Sanctuary. We emphasised the importance of allowing women to rest their nervous systems as a crucial first step in the healing process. Our sanctuary offers a safe haven where women can step away from distress and begin their journey towards healing and recovery.
Recent Initiatives at Women’s Healing Sanctuary
In addition to our participation in community events, we’ve been busy with other initiatives to support women’s healing:
- We recently hosted the Beyond Boundaries and Passage to Power workshops at our sanctuary, providing intensive support for small groups of women over four days.
- Our sanctuary continues to offer retreat accommodation, including meals, for women seeking a peaceful environment to rest and recover.
- The Angel Sponsorship Program aims provide 100 Angel Night Stays in the 2024/25 financial year. This program enables women from all financial backgrounds to access our sanctuary, ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to find rest, healing, and empowerment.
- We’re constantly developing new programs and resources to address the diverse needs of women on their healing journeys.
